0 REPRESENTSMeeks loves seafood, specifically crab legs and lobster. With me being plant-based we haven't gone out and eaten at a seafood restaurant together in the 4 years we have been together as a couple. This is because she refuses to let me take her somewhere to eat where the restaurant doesn't have sufficient menu options for me. Needless to say, most seafood restaurants don't have very good plant-based options.

That all changed this past Sunday when we stepped into "Hot 'N Juicy Crab" in Tinley Park, IL. I had been in there a few weeks earlier to get fried Oysters for my pregnant wife. It was then that we became aware of their existence, and being the astute wife that she is, Meeks immediately checked their menu for food that I can eat. To our joy, they have plant-based options! Sunday afternoon presented us an opportunity to slip out of the house and away from our kids to have a nice, quiet early dinner together and Hot 'N juicy Crab a try.

On their menu the Veggie Burger is described as, "A hand formed veggie patty made with Edamame, peas, corn, broccoli, garlic, carrots and red and green peppers. Served with lettuce and tomato." so no egg, no secret dairy... so I was on board! But... Meeks pointed out that they also have something called that Al Vacado Turkey Burger which is described as "topped with guacamole, jalapeno mayonnaise, cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and an onion ring on a toasted bun."

That Al Vocado burger sounded delicious to me, so I asked the waitress if they could make it as a veggie burger, AND THEY DID! They had several french fry options to go with it including sweet potato fries; but I decided to stick to my weight loss goals and opted for the fried okra instead.

Other veggie options on the menu include: Cajun fries, onion rings, fried okra, sweet potato fries, fried corn nuggets, potatoes and steamed rice as sides. They also have salad and black bean corn and brown rice. There are a few other options you might be able to order sans the meat and still enjoy.

Meeks had a half pound of crab leg and a half pound of jumbo shrimp with the heads off in Woo Pig Sooiee sauce. It was served with corn and potatoes. I can honestly say that it was quite the treat watching my beautiful wife put on her bib and rubber gloves and dig in to her meal. She is so neat and classy; I have never seen anything like it! Not that she wasn't classy in how she ate it; I just have never been out with someone eating this kind of meal so I was unprepared for how it is eaten!

All in all, after a little seating snafu when we first got there and a long wait to be seen by our waitress; the service turned out to be great. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and are happy to suggest you visit a Hot 'N Juicy Crab near you if you're in a group that's looking to eat plant-based and not plant-based at the same restaurant.

we finished this date by going around the corner and playing some Ski-ball, air hockey, basketball (the indoor ticket game), a little Donkey Kong and a few other games at a nearby arcade. Capping off what was an amazing and fun Sunday afternoon date.
